Classified AdsThis is a good place to start. No matter where you live, there are horse magazines. There are probably local horse papers in your area too, many offered free. Tack and feed stores will usualy have alot of these magazines. Get a few of these, and look through them, and read the ads. Circle the ones you think sound good, then later you can call and ask the seller questions about the horse.Trainers and BreedersTrainers and breeders will probably sell good quality horses, and they should also have the horses papers, show records, ect. in order, and they will probably know the horse's background.Horse ShowsIf you hang around horse shows alot, you will probably find some horses for sale, and you will be able to see the horse in action before you buy.AuctionsAuction aren't the place to buy horses. Although you can sometimes get a good horse at an auction, most of the horse sold are unregistered, poor-quality, slaughter-bound horses. Only proffesionals should attempt to get a horse at an auction, but even then there is a high chance that the animal could have vices, diseases, lameness, or training problems.InternetThere are many sites that have classified ads, and you can usualy search for horses in a specific area, or by breed, age, or skills. If you do find a horse that sounds nice and is in your area, you can call the owner and ask about it.Friends or aquaintancesIf you know someone that is selling a horse, don't just buy it because the seller is your friend.
