How To Get Your Horse to Eat Grain Slower
by Michelle Perkins

Materials:

Feed pan from ground level
Your choice of grain
Ground alfalfa hay

How To:

I discovered by mixing my horses grain with fine alfafa hay in their feed pan
has slowed them down from taking excesive mouth fulls. And it also increases
their fiber intake. Personaly speaking I have noticed added weight gain in a
months time and my horses seem to be more relaxed and less excitability at feed time. Mix one scoop of grain and one of alfalfa. Or, poor feed on top of a
flake of hay in feeder. Adding water will slow their eating and will benifit
their swallowing for older horses.

Tips:

Use a large enough feeder to minimize loss off feed from them shoving hay
around.
