Smoky Black

A smoky black is a black horse with one cream gene. The visual result is a black horse, sometimes slightly-diluted looking, or sometimes identical to true black. The eyes are often a light-brown, amber, or hazel color, often called "yellow" or "goat" eyes. Sometimes the eyes are dark brown like that of a regular horse.

Smoky black foals are often born a 'dusty black' color, sometimes with lighter color inside the ears. The eyes may be blue at birth, but will darken as the foal ages.
