A classic silver dapple. silver + black.

Winnie, grade pony mare. Owned by Jeanne Pond. Sire was a palomino, dam was the same color as her.
This pony is probably a silver dapple. This shade would be called dark chocolate silver. She also has one blue eye-- a very neat contrast with her light mane and chocolate body!

Trixie, from Kelly Treat.
This is another silver pony. This is a light chocolate silver, or light silver dapple. She is also a minimal tobiano.

Ed's Smokin Gun, Shetland. Owned Edward McKenna.
This is a red silver, or a bay + silver. The red body is left undiluted, and the legs are diluted to a chocolate color, the mane and tail are diluted to flaxen.

Fernpark Bravado, owned by Dick and Eve Burleson, RTM farms, Pleassant Hill, Oregon.
This handsome guy isn't just a chestnut-- he also carries a hidden silver gene! There is currently no test for silver, and since it has no effect on red pigment, it is invisible on a chestnut. We know he is a silver carrier because he sired a bay silver foal out of a non-silver mare.
