Composite Dilutes

Nugget's Summer Ray, Tennessee Walking Horse stallion. By a palomino, out of a champagne. Owned by Stephanie Clatterbuck - Culpeper, Virginia Website .
This is an "Ivory" Champagne, a horse having both a Cr and a Ch gene. This horse is a palomino champagne (chestnut base + cream gene + champagne gene). Both the champagne and the cream gene dilute the red pigment, creating a horse that is lighter than either one alone. Ivory champages are often mistaken for cremellos, as they are very light. Note the freckled skin in the second photograpy.

FDS Champagne For Milady,Tennessee Walking Horse mare. By a bay, out of a gold champagne. Owned by Stephanie Clatterbuck - Culpeper, Virginia Website .
This mare is an Amber champagne, a bay with a champagne gene. She also has an unusually light mane. The champagne diluted her red body to a golden color, and her black legs and mane to a lighter color. Her legs are pretty light for an amber champagne, but you can see that they are darker than the body (look at knee/fetlocks).
