I've had this old photo of Roy Rogers standing on Trigger while Trigger is on
his back, upside down, with all four legs up in the air, staying in that
position. I wondered if I could teach my horse, Mr. Playboy, to do that. I
knew it would take lots of patience and time, not to mention the ultimate
TRUST, since a horse is most vulnerable in that position. After months of
working on it a little bit every day, voila! He finally did it! The picture
sent to you of this incredible feat says it all!

Well at my riding camp I've seen all kinds of horses, horses who roll in the
muck, horses who eat grass while cantering. But by far the most unusual and
amazing thing I've ever seen a horse do was by this horse called Babushka. The
senior batch were doing these series of jumps and Babushka was behind a
handsome gray horse called Blizzard. Blizzard was completely freaked out and
refused the haystack jump. Babushka was completely energized and was coming on
like a fast canter and she just took a flying leap over Blizzard, Blizzard's
rider and the hay stack and landed beautifully with the rider still on her
back. It was astounding. It was so unexpected because the jump was
seriously high it was like Babushka was flying in the air. Everyone was on
their feet clapping hard. I am so sure that this was one experience that left
Babushka's rider speechless! - Shruti Manian

One early morning my mom pulled up to the front opening of the door. I walked
to Winnie's stall. To my amazment the mare wasn't in her stall. In
panic I walked down the aisle despretly then stopped suddenly as I starred at
my horse in the goats stall! She was standing there gnawing on the goat's
breakfast. I rushed back to my horse's stall and grabbed her halter off the
hook. I led Winnie out of the stall and put her in the correct stall. In all
the confusion I found the stable hand and asked him if he knew anything about
the incident. I followed him to Winnie's stall. He pointed to the weak hook
the was laying on the ground next to the stall. It turns out the horse next to
her had somehow unhooked the hook and Winnie had rammed the door open.
Luckily, Winnie caused no damage to the barn, but the goat had a little less
breakfast that morning! - Rachel Mallary

The most unusual thing I have ever seen a horse do is when I was at Horse Camp
and a pony named Peter grabbed a barn cat named Jasper by the scruff of the
neck and he swung the cat on his back. The cat didn't scratch him, but it
started purring. Then Peter nickered, and the cat got comfortable on his back.
Peter started walking around the paddock. Then he cantered, and the cat stayed
on him. It was REALLY cute. - Kassidy Pascoe

When I was 10 years old I got my first pony for christmas. He was grey and brown with a white blaze on his forehead. He was the sweetest horse I had ever met. He had already been built a corral and stall. One day later in the evening we took my horse to the stall to be put to bed. Every day he would willingly go into the stall ready for bed. ( he had unbeleivable ground manners ) this evening was no different than any other to us, but not to our horse. He would absolutely not go into the stall! We could just not figure it out! We checked to see if there was a snake or somethig in it but there wasn't. Nothing was visibly wrong with the stall. We tried our hardest to persuade him into the stall. We tried waving our hands behind his butt, and treats, and coaxing and nothing seemed to work! We just finally gave up and let him stay out in his corral. The next morning when my mom went out to check on him, she noticed from the front of the yard, our horse was running crazily around the pen! She ran over that way to see what was going on, and she saw a HUGE log from the tree overhead had fallen through the roof of our horse's stall. That explained why he wouldn't go into the stall! That log would have easlily killed him. He must have known, how else would just all of a sudden out of the 3 months we have had him, just not want to go into the stall this one night? We were totally amazed, and I wonder what it would have been like if he could have just lived to be 36 and see what other surprises he would have soulfully given us. - Malerie Bramlett
