Poems about specific horses, horse ownership, riding...

Razmataz
by: rebekah deichman
I had given up my smile along time ago,
that was until the rainy morning I met you.
With a coat that shined like copper,
you stole my heart away.
You looked beyond it’s battle scars,
it’s purple bruises and empty spaces,
and saw a tiny pieces,
unmarred or broken and rooted yourself there.
I guess that’s why I love you,
and see beyond your flaws.
Your conformation is lacking,
and you can be an ornery pony,
but that doesn’t matter to me
Beyond what people see,
there is a stud at heart.
You deserve the best,
because you see the best.
You are my angel sent from heaven above.
I know when Sara saw you she thought of me.
That’s why she sent you my, hero,
to set me free.
Today you made me want to laugh again,
you nuzzled my tears away,
with your spirit and your grace.
So full of healing,
you my sweetest friend.
You swish your tail, and toss your head,
as I let you go and play.
You buck a little and then drop your head to graze
thinking of all the ways,
you made me laugh today.
Thank you my friend,
f
or teaching me the most important lesson of all,
that the love of a horse,
is worth more than all the world can ever give.

Pokey by Heather Roper

I have a favorite horse to ride,
Some people call him Smokey.
He's an old, dusty, trail horse,
But I'd rather call him Pokey.

He's slow and plods along the rail,
But he's a stallion in my dreams.
My friend and I will dance so light,
In a class thats called drill team.

We circle to the left and trot,
We gather for the pin wheel.
We break in teams and canter,
As we cross we give some heel.

We group into the center,
We're finished with our show.
I've finally lived my favorite dream,
How sad i am that he must go.

*My Love*
by Alyssa Rushing

How to describe the feeling, the joy, the fun,
even as I go to sleep, the excitement is far from done.
Galloping through the fields, so fast he flies,
or just stroking his face, staring into his eyes.
Never had I thought, I would enjoy something so much,
he nods his head at my soft sweet touch.
Riding my horse is such a joy, a splendor,
I respect him and love him, his feelings are tender.
The first time I seen him, I knew he was the one,
I knew he would build me up, and be a great deal of fun.
He tossed his head and reared up strong,
I knew he would be with him, a time so long.
His mane and tail were black; his eyes were brown,
he acted like a majestic king with a gold crown.
I stroked his nose, whispered into his ears,
I knew I would love him always, never any tears.
Riding him on the trail, or just watching him graze,
having so many feelings for him, it is an endless maze.
I may get frustrated, I may get mad,
but I will always love him; never will I be sad.
He has always been there for me, in the present and past,
he knows when I’m upset, he can sense my feelings so fast.
His personality is a sweet as cream,
there were no second thoughts when I named him Dream.
When I’m with him, it’s like being with a heavenly dove,
horses are…no…Dream is my love.

The Desert Dance
Valerie Marie Goodwin
As we lope into the desert
Your golden mane whips back at my face.
Your legs move smooth as ice
As you carry me into a sense of freedom.
It's like I'm riding the wind,
Like I'm in a beautiful dream.
When I'm on your back
I get that sensation, that wonderful felling
That I'm being carried away from all my troubles.
It feels as though if you were'nt here,
I could'nt survive.
You will always be my best friend,
For you are a part of me.
You will always be,
My Horse

My Perfect Horse
by Emily Penman

I had a horse named Mystery, he was strong and bold
B ut unfortunately for Mystery he was also old
I so wanted to move up a bit; a new horse I would need
B ut do I have to get rid of mystery? ...in a big paddock he'd be freed...

He would no longer be ridden, or or fed a sugar lump
B ut the new horse I was given could at least jump a jump
Firefly was my next horse, like Mystery he was not
Instead of being affectionate he'd stamp his feet a lot

He could sure do classes well and we always won the blue
but I really wanted Mystery who loved me through and through.
but Mystery was still too old I could not ride him any more
and Firefly was nasty, not the horse I wanted at all

Ii told my parents to sell firefly and get a horse who cared
I wanted a horse who loved to jump and was never scared
My next horse was Clover and he was perfect for me
He had the jump like Firefly and the love like Mystery

We to won all the prizes but they seemed to mean much more
Then the prizes I won on Firefly-- 'cause Clover I did adore!

DREAM HORSE
By: Lauren Wilcox

A wonderful horse, waiting for me
As beautiful as horses can be
A chestnut, red as Mars
When she jumps up, she hits the stars

A deep brown eye, like jarrah wood
When I give her aids, she does what she should
This horse is the only one for me
I'll ride her from new south wales to Northern Territory

This horse and I, when we meet first
I will ride her for all I'm worth
She'll gallop so fast, it really is frightening
This horse goes by the name of Lightning

Poem by Danielle Alvarez
She is my Angel Fire,
As she dances around the pyre,
And as she meets me stare,
She notices it's a kind of glare,
She is my Angel Fire.

My anger rasies high,
As she rears into the sky,
I wonder how and why she did it,
Then I sat and wondered for a minute,
She is my Angel Fire.

Expressions splattered across her face,
Feather light mane, just like lace,
Beauty is as beauty does,
Thinking about the life
She had away from us,
She is my Angel Fire.

She loves to watch the flames,
Because just like her, they can feel the
Pain, and I will believe her when she says,
"I set the barn and horses a-fire"
She is, my Angel Fire.

~ANDY~
by Charlsie Colleen Holt (cc)

You are shy eating grass under the shade
Drooling over the clovers you are grazing on
Your gracefulness reflects your happieness
So free, and yet im so captured in your beauty
You're appaloosa coat, brown with white dapples
You're black shiny mane, and your big gray hooves
You're softness and friendliness
When you're galloping,you're stomping you're feet loudly
You make it sound like an earthquake
Thundering and roaring
You are small, but strong and fast
Loveable and beautiful
Everyone thinks that is crazy
But me,....I think it's WONDERFUL
I love you,~ANDY~

Sugar Bit
By: Brittney Gay

You May not be with me now
But I know we'll be together again somehow.
You were my greatest friend, you were everything to me
As I'm sure you can see.
You seemed to understand every word I said
When we spent those long nights together, before I went to bed.
I even put your purple halter in my room
to try to get rid of all the gloom.
I miss you, I know I always will
I wish I could hear your whinny shrill.
So don't you shed a sing tear
You'll always know I am near.
I know we will see each other again someday
And I'll be sure to greet you, with some hay.

The Thoroughbred
by Atalaya Ferrari

His long muscular legs and forward gait,
His spectacular races are never late.
His long, noble roman head,
His vigorous gallop always carries him ahead.

His thick bay coat and dainty step,
His glossy mane and tail are neatly kept.
His large friendly eyes with their soft stare,
His sharp alert ears make him keenly aware.

He ends his races in maximum might,
He conquers the world in his fiery plight.
His impresive, strong chest holds his pounding heart,
He is incredibly cunning and suprisingly smart.

His clean clipped cannons hold his power.
His dark silhouette over many will tower.
His endless source of vibrant energy,
His proud nature dispels lethargy.

His ringing neigh expresses success,
His unjust defeat would surely depress.
He's never less than three lengths ahead,
He is the courageous thoroughbred.

Quarter Horse
by Natosha Anderson

My best friend isn’t like most
He never judges me, just loves me
Even though he aint the best host
He brings out the best in me
No matter how strong the competition
He guides me when I can’t see
When we are together we are one
That is how I like to be…
He is my guide through the course
Just me and him, me…
And my American Quarter Horse

Filly for Sale
by Kelly Crittenden

Filly for sale
the chance of a lifetime,
Not buying her
would be seen as a crime.

She is perfectly sweet
and loveable too,
When asked to do anything
she'd do it...for YOU.

She walks, and canters
and trots real neat,
Her attitude matches
she's never been beat.

With an air of elegance
she struts here and there,
Her finely shaped head
tosses silvery hair.

To ride her smooth trot
is as in a dream;
her canter is perfect
like floating on crème.

All stallions gaze
as she comes from afar,
Her beauty is regal
her heart is a star.

To think that you
could own her some day,
Would be life come true
in the best of ways.

Filly for sale
the chance of a lifetime,
Not buying her
would be seen as a crime.

Kaleb Impressive
By miranda sue mccarw

The way my baby glides at a canter, that's impressive
His choppy trot, which is ever so bumpy!,
T
hat's impressive
His loving personality,that's impressive
Even though he's the rodeo bucking king, that's impressive
His up in your face atitude, that's impressive
We belong together that's impressive!!!!

Poem by A Cooper

With the wind stinging my eyes and the feel of it ripping my hair into the air.

The pounding of hooves in my ears the sound of waves crashing on the sand the feel of the horse beneath me is enough to let me urge her faster past the sand dune past the people picnicing.

I feel as if flying. Over drift wood and down the sand slowly slowing to a canter, trot and walk, quite ready to do it all again!

Cooling her down in the shade of the palm tree, watching seagulls flying ahead, I think of what tommorrow's excersize has in store....

Passion, Harmony
by Lindsey Marie Ring

I look into her eyes and feel peace.
Finally, deep, real, content.
Passion.

We are one, we share the feeling.
Moving, together, one.
Harmony.

Together: a given
Forever: a promise

Her eye is a pond in the moonlight,
Her tail is a rainbow in the sun.
Her soul flies with the angels.

Sitting in her stall with her cheek against my face.
I close my eyes and feel dizzy.
I smile.

I feel as though we share thoughts. Hope. Dreams.

Ribbons and trophies: I do not care.

Laughing, smiling, tickling, grooming:
I care the sky, the sun, the earth, the stars.
Passion.

When my gaze is upon her,
My chest constricts, I cannot speak.
Life without her would be no life at all.
Harmony.

Strong, silent, peaceful, kind; she mellows me and humbles me.

What could I have possibly done to deserve such a joy as this?

Me and my horse.
Passion, Harmony
