Description: The Arabian is one of the most elegant and refined breeds of horses, but it is also one of the strongest and toughest. Today Arabians are most famous for their roles as endurance horses. The Arabian out ranks every other breed when it comes to endurance riding. Arabians have one less rib than other horses, leaving them with 17 rather than the usual 18. They also only have 16 tail vertebra while other horses have 18. than Arabians were originally bred to be short strong and beautiful. They have elegant slender necks, large dark eyes, small "tea cup" muzzles, and elegant "dished" faces. When Arabians move, they looks as though they are floating on air. Their gaits are very graceful and springy and they tend to carry their tails high with pride, making them a beautiful site to behold. Arabians also have very strong bones and feet well suiting them to their role as endurance horses. Arabians are highly intelligent, spirited, yet gentle. They are loyal and loving to their toward their riders. Arabians are one of the oldest breeds of horses, if not the oldest, and practically every modern breed traces back to them.

History : Arabians were bred by the Bedouins to be strong, sturdy, loyal, obedient, brave, and while beauty was their main concern, the horses were beautiful. The Arabians had to be tough and valiant to survive in the desert and serve their role as war horses. Their strength and stamina was essential to their survival in the desert and their success as war mounts. The Bedouins bred their horses very selectively. Their Arabians became their pride and joy. The horses had to be highly intelligent, well mannered and obedient because they often lived in the same tents as their riders. This shows how strong the bond between horse and rider had to have been.

Colors: Arabians come in gray, black, bay, and chestnut, and occasionally they may have sabino pinto markings.

Height: Arabians generally stand 14.2 to 15hh but may be taller.

Uses: Arabians are great all around horses, but they excel most as endurance and trail horses.
